  • What is the waiting period for a treatment in India?

  • There is no waiting period for treatments. Once any medical condition is diagnosed and the treatment in terms of a surgery is planned it will be scheduled without any waiting or delays. India is the hub for skilled doctors and the state of the art hospitals and infrastructure providing only the advanced medical technology and has ample options.
  • What is the documentation required to carry for seeking medical treatment in India?

  • The important documentation required in medical tourism is as follows:
    1. Medical Reports include:
      • Medical History reports
      • Medical Records
      • Relevant diagnostic test reports, like blood tests, X-rays, ECGs, Scans, etc.
      • Doctor referral requisitions
    2. Personal details which include:
      • Demographic details
      • Residence proof
      • Driver's license
      • Passport copies
      • Passport size photos - keep 10-15 in hand for various purposes
    3. Health Insurance details
    4. Bank statements (required sometimes)
  • Is immunization necessary prior to coming to India for the treatment?

  • Immunizations/vaccination should ideally be up to date and highly recommended while travelling abroad. However, it is necessary to consult your family physician, Government official/advisory of your home country and the facility/hospital where you’re travelling to India. Usually the following vaccination is recommended:
    • Hepatitis A
    • Hepatitis B (if the planned length of stay exceeds 60 days)
    • Hib vaccine: Haemophilus influenzae Type B
    • Typhoid
    • DPT: Diphtheria Pertussis and Tetanus
    • MMR: Measles, Mumps and Rubella
    • Polio vaccine: Oral and/or
    • JBE: Japanese B encephalitis

  • With an appropriate approach for planning the treatment in India, you can register with us, and we will give you the most convenient and reliable options for your family/attendant while you are being treated at the hospital.
  • Does my health insurance work in the Indian hospitals?

  • A valid international health insurance (for India) should cover the treatment. You need to notify the hospital where you are going to take treatment. If this hospital approves the insurance provider, they could request for an advance payment deposit/guarantee. Also depending on the treatment and the condition of the patient you may also need to take pre-approval in your country before travelling to India for treatment.
  • What is included / excluded in the cost?

  • The inclusions and exclusion are as follows:

    • In case the there is a requirement of special consumables, the surgeon / medical staff will inform you. The cost options depend on types, brand being used, sizes, and the material being used and as recommended by the specialist.
    • Based on the recovery, if the stay is extended additional charges are usually applicable
    • Special tests are charged extra

  • Can travel/transfers from the airport be taken care of?
  • The airport transfer is complimentary and Indus Health Plus provides assistance for daily commutation from the hospital to the hotel at an additional cost (provided the travel schedule is communicated in advance.)
Medical Visa
  • Is assistance for Medical Visa going to be provided?

  • Indus Health Plus provides assistance for Medical Visa. Usually the following process is followed:
    • Selection of the hospital for the treatment
    • We will assist in getting the medical visa invitation letter from the hospital.
    • This letter has to be presented at the 'Embassy' or 'High Commission of India' in the home country.
    • Finally, the medical tourist visa is then issued as per the norms
  • If my family member/attendant wants to travel with me for my treatment, do they need to apply for the Medical Visa?

  • Family member/attendant accompanying the patient's medical treatment in coming to India should have the Medical Attendant visa (MedX). Also the invitation letter from the hospital will be required.
  • How many people can accompany the patient for the medical travel? Who all could be permitted as attendants for this travel?

  • Not more than 2 attendants are generally allowed for the medical tourism. Attendants can be anyone as follows:
    • Spouse
    • Children
    • Related by blood
  • What are the medical visa requirements?

  • Following are the requirements for the medical visa:
    • Passport (with a validity of 6 month)
    • Passport Photo copy
    • Photographs (Passport size)
    • Copy of online Filled form
    • Residential Address Proof
    • Home country physician's recommendation letter for the visit to the hospital for treatment
    • Copy of Attendant's Passport
    • Attendant's proof of relationship with the patient
    • Medical documentation
  • What is the validity of a medical visa?

  • Medical visa is issued for the duration of 1 year or for the treatment duration, whichever is lesser. This visa is valid for a maximum of 3 entries annually.
  • How many repeat visits are allowed?

  • Annually, a maximum of 3 entries are allowed.
  • What is the approximate Medical Visa fee?

  • Generally, the Medical visa fee is different for different countries and can cost around 13 to 153 USD.
  • What are the Medical Visa formalities post-arrival to India?

  • Indus will assist you for the medical visa formalities. Within 14 days of arrival in India, the patient and attendants are asked to register at the Foreigner's Regional Registration Office. A local Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRROs)/FROs registration is required for the attendants within 14 days of arrival in India.
  • In case the stay is extended for my treatment is, is there any assistance provided for this visa extension?

  • Extension of the Medical and Medical Attendant visas are decided by the FRRO in India. This extension depends on the patient's condition and requires proof in terms of the medical documentation.
During Visit/Treatment
  • How are the physician appointments scheduled?

  • Indus health Plus we assist you in scheduling physician appointments and consultations.
  • Is there an availability of pharmacies or medical store for providing the medicines in the Hospitals?

  • Almost all the hospitals in India have an easy accessible in-house pharmacy within its premises.
  • What are the options for hospital rooms?

  • The options for the standard hospital rooms are:
    • Ward type
    • Single accommodation units
    • Normal single room

  • What are the types of facilities for communication services provided in the Hospital?

  • The different communication facilities which are provided by the hospitals are:

  • Are international cuisines available?

  • Usually the food menus are standard however; one can request for customizations and based on the diet as advised by the physician. International cuisines are generally available in major hospitals. One should confirm if the international cuisines are available or not with the hospitals.
Post Treatment
  • Can the patient travel immediately post the medical treatment?

  • According to the patient's recovery and as advised by the doctor the return travel can be planned.
  • Are treatment procedures covered by major medical insurance companies?
